Special MEDIA Invitation: ASC 2020, Washington, D.C.

Dear Media Colleague,

You are cordially invited to participate in the international 2010 Applied Superconductivity Conference (ASC 2010), to be held in Washington, D.C., from August 1 through 6, 2010 at the Omni Shoreham Hotel. The theme of the 2010 Conference is “Superconductivity – Part of the Global Energy Solution.” The Applied Superconductivity Conference, a biennial conference series, is the major international forum for scientists and engineers to present and discuss the latest research results, ideas and developments in every aspect of the science, technology and applications of superconductors. The meeting will attract a broad spectrum of participants in research, technology development, and industrial manufacturing of superconductors (wire, magnets, etc.) and larger systems, as well as end users for a wide variety of applications.

Over 1500 scientists in the international high- and low-temperature superconductivity and supporting technologies communities will convene at this important meeting. Participants from U.S. and international universities, industry, national laboratories, and other government agencies will address recent progress in applications. Leading U.S. and international experts will discuss the latest status on products in the marketplace, and discuss critical issues of science, materials and devices. An Exhibition will also be held to showcase the latest commercial products.

The organizers have made special arrangements for members of the media who would like to attend. After presenting your credentials, your conference fee will be waived, allowing you access to all technical sessions, special symposia, and the Exhibition. Tickets may be purchased for optional activities and social events subject to availability.  Please register using the forms on the conference website.

Appropriate interview space will be provided at the conference upon request. We will also provide assistance in obtaining access to speakers for interviews. Additional information on the conference, technical program, exhibition, and special events will be posted on the website at www.ascinc.org. A media highlights sheet will also be posted once the program has been finalized.

We hope you will be able to join us as we meet in Washington. Please check the conference web site for further updates, and give us a call if you have questions or need additional information.
